課程概述

Course Description
A variety of works selected from those written by early European explorers of the North American continent to those by eighteenth century American writers (in fact, before 1820, according to the department schedule which divides the History of American Literature into three sections: 1. before 1820, 2. 1820-1914, 3. after 1914). The literary trends within this long period and the historical, philosophical, and social aspects of the literary movements will be introduced accordingly. Class discussions are related to the changes, responses and adaptations in the literary circles.

2. Encourage critical thinking and discussion through class presentation and discussion.
